Just one of those lazy Sundays…

I have been prepping my gear for a trip to Europe, and decided to throw an umbrella on one of my Speedlights, and see what I could put together in like a 10 minute microsession. This one worked out just fine… did a tiny amount of touching up in Photoshop, and then chucked it into OnOne Perfect Effects to put a canned effect on it.

Self portraits can be a total pain in the ass to pull off. You just have to suck it up and go after it. I definitely feel like self portraits can help you be a better portrait photographer, without question.

Look… I can have all the gear in the world, but if I don’t keep up with my own shooting and developing my skills (especially when I’ve only got a very short amount of time to shoot), I’m going to end up behind the ball. Which is never where I want to be. There is never a time in my life where I won’t be committed to practicing and trying to learn more. The more I practice, the better I get, the faster I get, the more fun shit I can create (even if I might look a bit goofy at the end of it all).

One SB-600 key light with a cheapo Wescott umbrella, shot with the Nikon 50mm 1.4g.
